The latest “Twilight” installment earned the most 2011 MTV Movie Award nominations, though Oscar winner “The King’s Speech” was noticeably absent from the list of nominees released Tuesday.
The vampire-romance-drama starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart topped the list with eight nods, Leonardo DiCaprio’s “Inception” came in next with seven nominations and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” landed in third place with six.
“The ‘2011 MTV Movie Awards’ is the only awards show where ‘Black Swan’ Academy Award winner Natalie Portman and ‘Jackass 3D’ star Steve-O will compete against each other,” the network boasted in a statement.
Portman and Steve-O will face off for the “Best Jaw-Dropping Moment.” Portman was nominated for the scene in the ballet thriller where she peels off her fingernail while the obnoxious stuntman was nominated for his port-a-potty bungee stunt.
Other trademark categories in the award show includes “Biggest Badass Star,” “Best Scared-as-Sh*t Performance,” and “Best Kiss.”
“Saturday Night Live” comedian Jason Sudeikis will host the unceremonious event in Los Angeles, that includes parodies of cliched movie scenes and unrelenting gibes at actors, to be held June 5.
“I’m sincerely flattered that the folks from the Mostly Teenage Viewers network have invited me to host this year and I look forward to keeping the streak of flawless and critically-lauded movie award show hosting in 2011 alive,” Sudeikis said in a statement.
