The musical chairs at “American Idol” continues.

Harry Connick Jr. is the latest name being floated as the third judge on the in-flux singing competition show. Sources told E! News yesterday the crooner is currently in negotiations with Fox.

Connick could be filling the seat left empty by music producer Dr. Luke. It was reported earlier this week the producer had to back out because of a conflict with Sony Music, his current label. And before that, producer and recording artist will.i.am was rumored to be the frontrunner for the spot.

Keith Urban, who joined the show last season, is the only confirmed judge right now.

Jennifer Lopez, who has been on “Idol” for two years, is reportedly signed on again but hasn’t announced a return.

The “Idol” judging panel usually hits the road for auditions in the late summer or fall, but they’ve announced judging panels as late as the end of September.

Fox had no comment and calls to Connick’s reps were not returned by press time.
