Trekkies rejoice, the new Star Trek movie has a teaser trailer and it promises a film that will follow in the dark and destructive path forged by J.J. Abrams’ first “Star Trek.”

Released today the trailer for “Star Trek Into Darkness” reveals few plot points but fans will be excited about getting a first look at Benedict Cumberbatch — of the BBC’s “Sherlock Holmes” — playing the bad guy.

But which bad guy he is playing is still up in the air with rumors swirling that he’s going to be playing the classic Star Trek villain Khan, from 1982’s “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.”

If the barely one minute long trailer isn’t enough for you don’t fret because the first nine minutes of “Into Darkness” are going to be shown in front of “The Hobbit” at select IMAX theaters starting on December 13th.
