TV and film star Tyler Perry has joined the cast of the next “Star Trek” movie, directed by “Lost” creator J.J. Abrams.

There’s no word on what role Perry will play. Perry created TBS’ successful sitcom, “House of Pain,” and wrote and directed the big-screen movies “Madea’s Family Reunion” and “Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” among others.
