If you want to cozy up to a movie about a hard-nosed corporate litigator who discovers that defending what’s right is more important than defending what’s rich, have I got a movie for you. “One Angry Juror” is a based-on-truth story about a New Orleans attorney (Jessica Capshaw) who usually defends fast-food chains against the little guys, and is surprised when she’s picked for jury duty. In a completely ridiculous only-on-TV soliloquy, during the voir dire, she tries to get dismissed with the tired, old most-criminals-are-guilty blah, blah, blah.

Shock! Both the defense and the prosecution pick her to be on the jury in the case of a young, African-American man accused of murder (Shomari Downer).

When she realizes he isn’t getting a fair trial, she deadlocks the jury and gets a mistrial declared.

Not satisfied, she takes his case to trial with the kid’s attorney (Jeremy Ratchford) and an investigator (Michael Jai White) to make sure the defendant, a pot-smoking kid from a poor background, gets justice.

OK, it is silly, overblown and has ridiculously bad dialogue (like this line about the lack of a smoking gun: “By the time I get done with this, there will be so much smoke, it’ll have lung cancer!” I swear).

Still, Lifetime knows exactly the strings to pull to get straight to your heart. Perfect movie if you’re home tonight with the sniffles.
