A new initiative launching in New York on Friday aims to help US companies make healthier and more sustainable fashion and save companies millions of dollars a year.
The Fashion Positive initiative applies the Cradle to Cradle certification to change the way apparel and accessories are made, with the objectives of improving the dyes that are used, increasing renewable energy in the production process and ensuring clothing has use beyond its first life.
Model Amber Valletta, who owns Master & Muse, a collaborative marketplace for “eco” designers, is on Fashion Positive’s advisory board, Post contributor Julie Earle-Levine reports, as is Julie Gilhart, the former fashion director of Barneys, now a fashion consultant.
