Robinson Cano wasn’t available for a third straight game, when he sat out the Mets’ 5-3 win over the Rockies at Citi Field on Saturday — and manager Mickey Callaway said the second baseman’s tight left quad will be evaluated again before Sunday’s game.

A return to the 10-day injured list is not out of the question if he can’t return to the lineup for the day game.

“I think it’s something we have to consider,’’ Callaway said of an IL stint if Cano is sidelined again.

The team decided shortly before Saturday’s game that Cano wasn’t an option, and they played with a short roster again.

After Callaway’s somewhat ominous diagnosis, Cano was more optimistic.

“We’ll see,’’ Cano said. “I hope [Sunday] it’s better.”

Cano suffered a recurrence of the injury during his first game back from the 10-day IL on Wednesday, as he ran to first on a grounder and wants to avoid a repeat of that scenario.

“You see what happened the last time and you don’t want to rush into it,’’ said Cano, who was replaced at second by Jeff McNeil.

He reported no issues from the drills or exercises he did prior to the game, marking a second straight day that was the case.

“I’ve got to do it a third time,’’ Cano said.

Asked if he expected another trip to the IL, Cano said, “I don’t expect anything. I’m always positive. Hopefully not.”

Told Callaway made the situation sound more dire, Cano said, “You should ask Mickey then.”

After the game, Cano took part in a postgame concert at Citi Field to promote his partnership with Strike Out Slavery, which raises awareness about human trafficking.

Justin Wilson threw 20 pitches of live batting practice on Saturday and expects to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday.

The left-hander has been dealing with elbow “inflammation,” which is what sent him to the injured list previously this season. He returned from the IL in May and appeared in just one game before being shut down again.

“It feels a lot better than last time,’’ Wilson said. “Truthfully, it felt good enough to pitch [the last time], otherwise I wouldn’t have come off.”

Though his mechanics are still a work in progress due in part to his time off, Wilson said that was “expected.”

“Just the feeling of it overall [is better],’’ Wilson said. “Every once in a while [the last time], there were days it would be cranky. The second day after I pitched it felt sore. This time, I haven’t had any of those setbacks.”

Brandon Nimmo (neck) was off on Saturday, but Callaway said has come out of his DH games “fine.’’

The real challenge, the manager said, will be when Nimmo returns to the outfield.

“Swinging is not an issue,’’ Callaway said. “It’s more getting out in the field, having to turn and look back [at the ball].”

Nimmo is scheduled to get evaluated again Sunday and if all goes well, will play defense.

The Mets were among several teams that had had their academies in the Dominican Republic robbed, a source confirmed. … Former Yankees manager Joe Girardi was at Citi Field on Saturday, doing the game for FOX Sports.
