Amar’e Stoudemire renewed his feud with Bucks coach Scott Skiles, who he believes lobbied to have the referees issue him his 15th technical of the season in the final minute of Wednesday’s Garden victory over the Bucks.
Stoudemire tossed his goggles after fouling out with one minute remaining. It appeared the officials missed it but the Bucks bench alerted them to the toss.
“Scott Skiles probably doing what he does best: being out of control and having them make the call,” Stoudemire told reporters at the morning shootaround at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
Asked if he ever played for Skiles, Stoudemire said, “No, I’m glad I didn’t.”
Skiles and Stoudemire have a history. Stoudemire ended Bucks center Andrew Bogut’s season last year with a push that sent Bogut crashing to the court, breaking his wrist. In their first meeting after that incident, November in Milwaukee, Stoudemire got entangled in several scrums, including getting elbowed by Bogut.
Afterward, an incensed Stoudemire said Bogut’s elbow was “intentional” and implied Skiles had the goon squad out for payback.
Stoudemire is one technical foul away from a one-game NBA suspension. He will get suspended one game for every two Ts after that.
