SACRAMENTO – Has Isiah Thomas turned into former Loyola Marymount coach Paul Westhead on this trip out West. All he talks about is offense, offense, offense.

The Knicks lost their third straight out West by double-digits, giving up 112 points to Sacramento in tonight’s loss. In the postgame, Thomas never blamed the team’s defensive woes, instead focusing on their poor free-throw shooting and missing shotmakers Nate Robinson and Quentin Richardson. The club scored 100 points and shot 49 percent. Jeez!

The past two days before Sacramento, Thomas had been obsessing with the Knicks’ lack of outside shooting and spent all of the practice time figuring out ways for Eddy Curry to pass out of the double-team and create more open shots on the perimeter.

As a result, all that focus by Isiah on the offensive end led to Sacramento scoring at will, with Ron Artest scorching them for a career-high 39 points while Thomas made no adjustments to try to stop him. When Artest took the ball to the hole, there was never a Knick rushing over to help. The players all credited Artest for being on fire. But the Knicks and their coach did nothing to stop him.

And Thomas blew off my question in the postgame about his concerns with Jared Jeffries not bringing enough to the table. No offense. No defense. No hustle plays. David Lee is so much better right now, it’s scary. Naturally, having just spent $30 million of James Dolan’s mid-level exception money, Isiah’s not going to admit Jared is so far a bust.

The Knicks have a great chance of returning to New York 0-5 on this trip after these three double-digit losses. Portland and Seattle awaits and this Knick team has not looked prepared once out here. Lucky James Dolan was too sick to make the trip.
