With the Warriors failing to repeat and small forward Harrison Barnes a free agent and possibly in line for close to a max contract elsewhere, Kevin Durant suddenly makes even more sense for the NBA’s runners-up.
The Warriors have long been mentioned as a club that will strongly pursue Durant, but it made little sense if they won back-to-back championships. But their offense disappeared in blowing the final three games of the Finals to the Cavaliers, with the cold-shooting Barnes a culprit.
At a sneaker event in Austin, Texas on Monday, Durant said, via The Oklahoman: “I’m worried about basketball. That’s what it is for me. It’s a basketball decision.”
The Knicks also will throw their hat in the ring for Durant.
