Aaron Hernandez’s former fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, confirmed Tuesday she is expecting her second child, a little over a year after the ex-Patriots tight end took his own life.
“Many of you have had speculated that I may be expecting another miracle which is very accurate,” Jenkins announced on Instagram. “I wanted to have a moment for myself alone with my daughter … we are beyond excited about the new addition and chapter we will soon begin.”
The couple welcomed their child, daughter Avielle, in 2012. Hernandez was arrested the following year for the murder of Odin Lloyd, a crime he would be convicted of.
After being acquitted in a 2012 double murder last April, Hernandez hanged himself with a bed sheet in his cell five days later. He was 27 years old.
Though the former NFL player left behind suicide notes, Jenkins-Hernandez speculated the messages could have been fake.
“I did see that it was addressed to ‘Shay’ instead of you know, Babe or Bae, the way he would refer me as. That was a little odd to me,” Jenkins-Hernandez said in a sit-down with Dr. Phil, via the Daily Mail. “But as far as the content, he seemed to be his loving self.”
Though Hernandez-Jenkins did not reveal the father’s identity, the mom-to-be is looking forward to a new chapter.
“I couldn’t be a luckier woman to have such a perfect little girl that’s prepared to become the best big sister , and even more blessed to welcome another babygirl to our home,” Jenkins-Hernandez shared. “BabyG we are very excited to meet you !!! Mommy and sissy will continue to wait patiently for your arrival.”
