It’s been more than seven months since Minnesota’s Anthony Barr injured Aaron Rodgers with a hit outside of the pocket, causing the Packers signal-caller to miss nine games of the 2017 season.
And even if the Green Bay star says otherwise, it doesn’t sound as if he’s over it just yet.
Speaking to Peter King for the debut of his NBCSports.com column, Rodgers claimed the feud was over — yet his own words contradicted that belief.
“I mean, I think it’s time to move on for everybody,” Rodgers said. “I had looked over just to see if maybe there was gonna be a thumbs up, or hey you OK? Or whatever. It’s a league where you appreciate what we put our bodies through. I thought … knowing that I wouldn’t be on the ground unless it was a significant injury then maybe he’d be looking over, giving me a thumbs-up-you-OK? Or something. But it wasn’t the case. We had some words exchanged on both sides.”
In the aftermath of the hit, Rodgers accused the linebacker of giving him the finger as he was leaving the field. Barr, however, claimed that he only cursed at Rodgers after the Green Bay star spewed profanities at him.
While Rodgers’ collarbone injury is on the mend, it seems the non-physical wounds from his lost 2017 season are slower to come.
The Vikings visit Lambeau Field on Sept. 16, and a tense affair can be expected.
