The Jets revealed their full coaching staff for the 2019 season, with a surprise name on the list.

Former Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter comes aboard as the Jets’ running backs coach, joining a 21-man staff headed up by new coach Adam Gase with defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and Dowel Loggains as offensive coordinator.

Cooter spent five seasons in Detroit, graduating from quarterbacks coach to OC, helming the NFL’s sixth-best passing offense and No. 7 scoring offense in 2017.

The Jets currently have four running backs that will fall under Cooter’s purview for 2019: Trenton Cannon, Isaiah Crowell, De’Angelo Henderson and Elijah McGuire, with GM Mike Maccagnan weighing his free agent options. That could also include Le’Veon Bell.

Filling out Gase’s staff are Andre Carter as defensive line coach and Blake Williams – Gregg’s son – as a defensive assistant. According to Sports Illustrated, the Jets tried to hire Major Applewhite for a spot on the offensive staff, but the former University of Houston coach is planning to join Alabama.
