Arch Manning is certainly living up to the family name.

The nephew of Peyton and Eli, and son of oldest Manning brother Cooper, scored six touchdowns while quarterbacking Isidore Newman School in New Orleans to a 48-21 win on Friday night. He threw five touchdown passes and ran for a 5-yard score with uncle Peyton watching on. All of it happened after Arch Manning had his fumble returned for a touchdown.

Manning, a freshman, completed 12-of-19 passes for 289 yards, including a 60-yard bomb to senior Jarmone Sutherland.

“It was probably Manning’s best, most complete game so far,” Newman coach Nelson Stewart told The Times-Picayune. “I think he’s extremely resilient. He shows a lot of maturity and that’s what you want to see in a quarterback.”

Grandfather Archie Manning is already on record as saying Arch is ahead of where Peyton and Eli were at this stage of their career.

“He’s probably a little ahead of them as a freshman,” Archie Manning told USA Today earlier this month. “They played junior varsity as freshmen and started as sophomores.”
