Hakeem Nicks isn’t practicing and thus there was no great expectation that he was going to be able to return to the field and play in Sunday’s game against the Browns. Now there is no expectation, as he’s already been ruled out of the game, the third straight he’ll miss.

Nicks missed the game in Carolina with soreness in his right foot and sat out last week’s loss in Philadelphia when he began having swelling in his left knee. Tom Coughlin said both issues will keep him out against the Browns.

Moving forward, the Giants will keep Nicks out of any practice until next Wednesday, as they hope the rest will allow him to return to face the 49ers in San Francisco on Oct. 14. Coughlin said the swelling in Nicks’ knee has subsided.

CB Corey Webster is dealing with a hamstring issue but he says he’s confident he will be able to play on Sunday. S Antrel Rolle sat out practice with swelling in his left knee but he said “I’ll be good on Sunday.’’
