If you can’t beat ’em, slay ’em with some reference humor.
The snarks in the Bills merchandise shop at Ralph Wilson Stadium seemed to be taking their cues from outspoken head coach Rex Ryan when they set up a central display of air pumps — an unsubtle reference to Deflategate — on Friday to mock the mighty Patriots.
“Just in case anybody needs to inflate their footballs, we have equipment to do that,” retail manager Jason Klein told WIVB-TV in Buffalo, according to ESPN. “If you’re out in the parking lot and you’re throwing the football around, we’ll go ahead and take care of it for you.”
Because air pressure, get it? But, wait, how about something that rhymes?

Months and months of ribbing of the Patriots and star QB Tom Brady — much of it worse than pushing overpriced souvenirs — over allegations of cheating in last season’s AFC Championship Game did little to shrivel their ball movement (See? It’s not difficult) in a season-opening wrecking of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Ryan, with one game as Bills coach under his belt (a 27-14 win over the Colts) after years of trolling the Patriots as Jets boss, has done the majority of the needling in the run-up to Sunday’s division clash in Orchard Park. The Bills have lost 20 of the last 22 meetings in the series.
“I can’t wait to see what our fans are going to be like when you have the hated Patriots — I mean this kind of rival — coming into our stadium,” Ryan said on Monday.
Bills $108 million defensive tackle Marcell Dareus added: “Don’t nobody like the Patriots. Let’s be honest about it.”
