Star NFL quarterback Cam Newton has been flagged in a federal lawsuit over a Nickelodeon TV show that allegedly stole its concept from a lovable lamb.
Nick Katsoris, 49, the author of seven kids books featuring Loukoumi the Lamb, contends he pitched a reality show in 2012 to entertainment giant IMG based on his fluffy, copyrighted character.
IMG and Katsoris pitched the “Dream Day” project, in which kids would meet celebs in their aspiring field, to Nickelodeon and other networks, according to court papers.
But in September, Nickelodeon announced it would soon launch a children’s series called “I Wanna Be.” Carolina Panthers quarterback Newton, an IMG client like Katsoris, would star and produce.
Katsoris alleges IMG did an end-around and swapped out the lamb for the Panther and is seeking unspecified damages and an injunction to block the show.
