It’s been a bad week for franchise quarterbacks.

First, there were injuries to Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger. Then Eli Manning was benched. And now, Cam Newton is hurt, too.

Newton re-aggravated a left foot sprain he sustained in the preseason in last Thursday’s loss to the Buccaneers and may not play Sunday against the Cardinals. He didn’t practice on Tuesday, with Kyle Allen and Will Grier taking his reps for the 0-2 Panthers.

In the game against Tampa Bay, Newton went 25-of-51 for 333 passing yards. He was sacked three times and rushed twice for zero yards, while also losing a fumble.

A timeline has yet to be established by Carolina for a possible return. He is being listed as day-to-day.

“Well, obviously Kyle and Will are out there today [at practice],” general manager Marty Hurney said. “But we’ll see how it goes.”
