The heart of the Chiefs’ defense is headed to the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones was added to the list Thursday through contract tracing, not because of a positive coronavirus test, according to the Kansas City Star.

Jones, who leads the Chiefs with 4.5 sacks, was listed as a limited participant at Thursday’s practice after being a full participant on Wednesday.

The Chiefs had announced earlier on Thursday that a staff member had tested positive for COVID-19. The team said it would practice Thursday morning and then hold its meetings virtually with the facility closing down.

“We’ll continue to monitor the situation and take any appropriate action necessary to protect the team and those around us,” the team said in a statement.
