This might be a silver lining for DeAndre Baker, the Giants’ second-year cornerback who turned himself in to police Saturday after being charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Baker’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, has a history of helping athletes get out of trouble. In 2012, Dennis Rodman owed $179,000 worth of child support, but Cohen helped get the monthly payments reduced from $50,000 to $3,500. Three years earlier, former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress had four traffic tickets thrown out thanks to Cohen.

Cohen has also had success with celebrities outside of sports. Record producer Steve Storch had charges of grand theft in 2009 dismissed while working with Cohen. Rapper Vanilla Ice had a grand theft case reduced to 100 hours of community service and paying $1,333 to a neighbor for theft, due to Cohen, as well.

If Baker was holding a semi-automatic weapon, as witnesses say, the 22-year-old could face a mandatory minimum of 15 years for each of the four armed robbery charges under Florida law if convicted
