A day before the NFL trade deadline, teams began to make moves.

Monday afternoon, there were deals made involving playoff contenders. The Chargers moved defensive back Desmond King to the Titans for a sixth-round draft pick and the 49ers dealt linebacker Kwon Alexander to the Saints for linebacker Kiko Alonso and a conditional draft pick, according to multiple reports. Sunday night, the Jets dealt inside linebacker Avery Williamson and a seventh-round pick in 2022 to the Steelers for a fifth-rounder.

The 25-year-old King, who also returns punts, was a Pro Bowler in 2018 and could help the Titans’ struggling defense that yielded 31 points to the Bengals in a loss on Sunday.

Alexander helped the 49ers reach the Super Bowl last year and has 30 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in five games this year. He’s been battling an ankle injury.
