Eli Manning may no longer be a Giant, but even he knew how badly his former team needed a win.
“Way to go G-Men. We needed this one,” the retired quarterback wrote Sunday on Twitter following the Giants’ first win of the season over the Washington Football Team.
The Giants just barely escaped Ron Rivera’s Washington squad with a 20-19 win at MetLife Stadium behind a 23-yard pass from Daniel Jones to Darius Slayton and a 43-yard fumble return from Tae Crowder.
The win marked Joe Judge’s first as head coach, snapping a five-game losing streak to open the 2020 season.
The 39-year-old Manning, who led the Giants to two Super Bowl titles during his 16 seasons in New York, retired at the end of last season.
