After being arrested for suspicion of burglary last week near San Diego, former Jets tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. told his side of the story over the weekend.

Winslow’s representatives claimed he was house shopping for his mother-in-law at the property in question, and that the former sixth-overall pick didn’t even enter the house.

“An over reactive neighbor called police after she saw Kellen walking around a mobile home,” spokeswoman Denise White said in an email to NBC News on Saturday.

The neighbor who called the police on Winslow was not the owner of the house, White said, who added the house belongs to a friend of Winslow’s wife.

After being confronted by the neighbor, Winslow left the property, and the owner of the house said Winslow never entered the home or took any property.

Still, Winslow reportedly spent five hours in a North County jail Thursday night.

Winslow’s attorney released a statement saying he “emphatically denies committing any burglary. He would have no need to burglarize or steal anything from anyone at a trailer park.”

The former Jet has a court appearance scheduled for Monday.

He last appeared in the NFL in 2013.
