Week 8 of the NFL season dealt injuries to a number of fantasy-relevant players across the league.

The San Francisco 49ers — who have already been hit hard by the injury bug this year —  saw injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo, George Kittle and Tevin Coleman. Wide receivers T.Y. Hilton and Kenny Golladay were injured during the same game.

Here’s a recap of the biggest injuries to players across the league and how it could impact fantasy football:

Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers (ankle)

Garoppolo suffered an ankle injury late in the third quarter to the same ankle that kept him sidelined for two games earlier this season. He had been playing poorly before the injury and finished completing 11 of 16 passes for 84 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception and one fumble, which San Francisco recovered.

“I know it was hurt, which I think we all saw when he didn’t go back in on that one play,” head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters after the game. “He had a good week of practice throwing it, but high-ankle sprains linger, so you never know when it’s going to affect you. I know he hurt it later in the game, or re-hurt it, and we’ll wait until tomorrow to see how bad it is.”

Garoppolo was replaced by backup Nick Mullens, who completed 18 of 25 passes for two touchdowns and zero interceptions, which could complicate things for the 49ers, who play on Thursday against the Packers. Based on their respective performances and Garoppolo’s ongoing injuries, there’s a decent chance Mullens starts in Week 9 against the Packers.

George Kittle, TE, San Francisco 49ers (foot)

Kittle suffered a foot injury early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks and did not return. He finished with two catches for 39 yards and underwent initial X-rays, which were negative.

“Kittle, nothing was broken, at least on the X-rays,” Shanahan said after the game. “So, we’ve got to check MRIs and stuff tomorrow.”

When healthy, Kittle is one of the league’s elite tight ends and trails only Travis Kelce in total fantasy points this season. It appears he’s avoided a serious injury, but the situation is worth monitoring given his value. Next up on the tight end depth chart are Ross Dwelley and Jordan Reed, who could return from IR in Week 9.

Kenny Golladay, WR, Detroit Lions (hip)

Golladay suffered a hip injury during Sunday’s loss to the Colts and was ruled out for return. He finished with zero catches on four targets. After the game, head coach Matt Patricia did not provide an update on his star receiver, who has posted consistent WR2 numbers this season since his two-game absence with a hamstring injury.

Receivers Marvin Hall and Marvin Jones Jr. and tight end T.J. Hockenson saw increased targets without Golladay on the field. Hall caught four of seven targets for 113 yards, Hockenson caught seven of 10 targets for 65 yards and Jones caught three of seven targets for 39 yards. Hall (0 percent rostered) could be an interesting deeper-league add if Golladay misses time.

T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts (groin)

Hilton was injured during the first half of Sunday’s game and would not return, finishing with two catches for 9 yards. Running back Nyheim Hines led the team in receiving and caught three of five targets for 54 yards and two touchdowns.

Hilton hasn’t been able to find his groove with quarterback Philip Rivers and has been a massive disappointment this season. Next up on the Colts’ depth chart are Zach Pascal, rookie Michael Pittman Jr., Marcus Johnson and Ashton Dulin, who was also injured during the game.

Darrell Henderson, RB, Los Angeles Rams (thigh)

Henderson left Sunday’s game during the second quarter with a thigh injury. He did not return to the game and finished with eight carries for 47 yards and a catch for 11 yards. Malcolm Brown and rookie Cam Akers split carries and both finished with unremarkable statlines.

The Rams’ backfield has been a headache for fantasy managers all season as head coach Sean McVay seems committed to using a committee. An absence for Henderson could lend a bit more clarity and would elevate Brown more so than Akers into RB2 territory.

Tevin Coleman, RB, San Francisco 49ers (knee)

Coleman returned from injured reserve on Sunday only to suffer a an injury to the same knee in the first quarter and was ruled out for return. He was sidelined with a sprained knee for five games prior to Week 8 and finished with three carries for 20 yards.

Shanahan said after the game that Coleman wanted to return but couldn’t, but was optimistic he could return for Thursday night’s game.

The 49ers are already very lean at running back with Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. on IR. Rookie JaMycal Hasty was featured heavily and had 12 carries for 29 yards and a touchdown along with a 2-yard catch. Oft-injured Jerick McKinnon had a limited role (similar to last week) and saw three carries for -1 yard and a touchdown, and caught four of four targets for 40 yards. Hasty would likely benefit the most from another prolonged absence for Coleman as McKinnon regains strength.

Diontae Johnson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers (hamstring)

Johnson had an injury scare in Sunday’s game against the Ravens. He went into the medical tent during the first quarter with a hamstring issue but later returned to the game. He has dealt with a slew of injuries this year, so his status is worth monitoring throughout the week ahead of a mouth-watering Week 9 matchup in Dallas. Chase Claypool and James Washington would likely see more targets if Johnson were to miss time.
