IK Enemkpali might miss as much time as Geno Smith for his jaw-breaking punch.
The Bills linebacker, who was picked up by Rex Ryan after being released by the Jets, will be suspended the first four games of season, according to the AP.
Enemkpali, currently on the Bills practice squad, faces the ban without pay under the league’s personal conduct policy. He plans to appeal.
Smith is expected to miss at least the first four weeks of the season with Ryan Fitzpatrick starting for the Jets. Smith was the starter at the time of the punch, but will have a difficult time regaining that role if Fitzpatrick plays well in his absence.
The disagreement was over $600 Smith owed Enemkpali after Smith no-showed at a charity event.
