Harry Hulmes III, a popular presence around the Giants for a quarter-century, passed away Sunday. He was 88.
A former Giants assistant general manager for George Young, Hulmes was with the team for the final 25 years of a more than a 50-year run in the NFL.
Hulmes joined the Giants in 1984 and retired as a scout emeritus after the 2008 season. He also won two NFL championships in his 12 years with the Colts.
“While he may have operated behind the scenes, he was an invaluable member of our front office and was George’s right-hand man for many years,’’ co-owner John Mara said. “He was beloved by everyone at the Giants and around the NFL. It is a very sad day for all of us.”
