With no apparent progress in Jalen Ramsey’s quest to get traded by the Jacksonville Jaguars, this illness sure seems like more than a coincidence.
The disgruntled cornerback phoned team officials Sunday night telling them he thinks he has the flu and can’t practice on Monday, according to ESPN, which adds Ramsey might not practice the entire week.
Ramsey, who played Thursday in the Jaguars’ win over the Titans, has requested a trade, but the team wants to keep the two-time Pro Bowler whom it selected No. 5 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.
The 24-year-old recently opened up about his trade request on Uninterrupted’s “17 weeks” podcast.
“Some disrespectful things were said on their end that made me definitely walk out and call my agent as soon as I walked out,” Ramsey said. “I told him, I said, ‘It’s time. My time is up here in Jacksonville.’ I said, ‘I want to ask for a trade.’
“I was truly at peace like I wasn’t in a mindset of making a decision while I was angry. I was completely calm. I still stand by that decision, asking for trade.”
