Jameis Winston wants to see his future as clearly as possible.
The 26-year-old Buccaneers quarterback underwent LASIK surgery to repair his vision ahead of free agency, with spokesperson Denise White telling ESPN on Wednesday: “Jameis did not want to count out any options that he had that could possibly help him with the game he loves so much.”

White continued, “He doesn’t want to miss out on any opportunity that presents itself.”
Earlier this week, Winston posted a photo of himself appearing to wear protective shades in a fitness facility. He commented on the image, “They know! #DreamForever.”
Winston, who in 2019 became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in a single season, may join an already-crowded quarterback market when free agency begins next month. Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians not-so-subtly shaded the fifth-year quarterback in December, telling reporters: “If we can win with this [quarterback], we can definitely win with another one, too.”
Should the Buccaneers choose to move on from Winston, who is reportedly eyeing a $30-million-per-year extension, Philip Rivers is a proven alternative. The former Chargers quarterback recently relocated to Florida.
