Eric Decker’s wife has taken on the role of family spokesperson since the Jets announced last Tuesday they would part ways with the veteran wide receiver.
Jessie James Decker posted her new favorite emoji, an inquisitive face, twice within six hours Monday while the Jets continued dangling her husband — keeping him on the roster with the hope of trading him and relinquishing part of his salary. After failing to land a suitor, the Jets followed through on their promise and released the 30-year-old later Monday.
Jessie James expressed her relief in an optimistic tweet after the news broke.
The country singer put her frustration on full display in the morning, the sixth straight day of purgatory for Eric Decker until the Jets finally took action.
Jessie James took to Twitter again in the afternoon, just minutes after the Ravens — one of the teams the Jets reportedly were in talks with about Decker — announced they had signed free-agent receiver Jeremy Maclin to a two-year deal.
Maclin’s new contract was just the domino Decker needed to be able to find a new home, with the wide receiver market clarifying. According to ESPN, the Ravens still could be in the running to sign the free agent, regardless of the Maclin signing.
Now that Decker has the option to choose his next destination, Jessie James can retire the thinking-face emoji from her favorites.
