Grading the Jets after their 13-6 win over the Bills on Sunday.

Offense

The Jets did nothing for most of the day. They were playing in a heavy downpour, which complicated things, but they still looked sloppy. QB Sam Darnold (23 of 36, 199 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 76.0 rating) did not have a great day to end his second season. RB Le’Veon Bell (16 rushes, 41 yards, 5 catches, 36 yards) started off strong but faded. WR Jamison Crowder (8 catches, 66 yards, 1 TD) played well.

Grade: D

Defense

The Bills ended up gaining 309 yards, but the Jets kept them out of the end zone. Bills backup QB Matt Barkley (18 of 35, 232 yards, 2 INT, 48.8 rating) orchestrated a few drives but could not finish them. LB James Burgess led the team with nine tackles and had an interception. Arthur Maulet came up with an interception in the fourth quarter that ended the Bills’ last hope at tying the game.

Special teams

Kicker Sam Ficken had a rough day. He missed field goals of 51 and 34 yards in the first half. The second one was a killer in the final seconds before halftime. He did bounce back with a 47-yarder in the fourth quarter that iced the game, his second make of the day. Punter Lachlan Edwards averaged 42.8 yards per punt and had a long of 54. The Jets did not do much in the return game.

Grade: D

Coaching

These final games of the season can be tricky for teams that were eliminated, so Adam Gase deserves credit for keeping his team motivated. Offensively, Gase struggled to find answers, and I think he should have gone for it on fourth down on the first drive of the game. Gregg Williams pressed the right buttons against Bills backup QB Matt Barkley.

Grade: C
