JETS TO MOVE CAMP UPSTATE
The Jets are moving to the sticks.
The team announced yesterday it will hold its three-week training camp four hours from New York City at SUNY Cortland.
The move is shocking considering the team built a $75 million training facility in Florham Park, N.J., that opened last September. New coach Rex Ryan wanted the team to be isolated. As a PR move to soften the blow to area fans, the Jets are opening five minicamp practices to the public in Florham Park in June. They also will hold an open practice at Hofstra, their home of 40 years, in August.
The agreement with Cortland is for one year, but owner Woody Johnson said he hopes it will become long-term.
