Sam Darnold should not be the sole beneficiary of the Jets’ new and improved offensive line.

General manager Joe Douglas had his franchise quarterback’s development in mind when making the trenches his top priority in free agency and the 2020 NFL Draft, but the Jets also have a former All-Pro running back who could be rejuvenated by the new arrivals.

“Absolutely. Can’t wait,” Le’Veon Bell told ESPN about his excitement for running behind his new blockers.

The Jets signed free agents Connor McGovern, Greg Van Roten and George Fant and drafted first-rounder Mekhi Becton and fourth-rounder Cameron Clark. Combined with re-signing Alex Lewis, it likely spells four new starters and improved depth with eight new faces in the room in preparation for injury.

Bell, 28, averaged a career-low 3.2 yards per carry and finished with 789 rushing yards last season, his first on a four-year, $52 million deal with the Jets after sitting out 2018 in a contract dispute with the Steelers. Bell’s 66 receptions for 461 yards also were the lowest totals since his rookie year of 2013.

The Jets also signed Frank Gore, 37, to share the load with Bell.

Darnold was sacked 33 times in 13 starts last season and the Jets ranked No. 31 in rushing offense.
