Could the Jets be zeroing in on a new quarterback?

Free agent Michael Vick will visit the Jets this Friday, according to a source.

There has been speculation Vick would wind up with the Jets because of his familiarity with offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, whom he spent four seasons with in Philadelphia.

Last week, sources said there was mutual interest, but Vick could take his time in choosing a team.

The Jets are looking to add a veteran backup to push Geno Smith in his second season and possibly take the job if he stumbles. Mark Sanchez remains on the Jets roster, but he may be released soon. Sanchez is due a $2 million roster bonus on Tuesday. They seem to be waiting to find another quarterback before finally cutting Sanchez, who has a $13.1 million salary cap figure in 2014.

Vick is considered the top quarterback on the market, but there have been few reports of teams showing interest. Speculation has centered around the Jets, Raiders and Bills.

Vick turns 34 this summer. He lost his starting job to Nick Foles with the Eagles and is believed to be looking for a team where he has a chance to start.
