Alabama linebacker Reggie Ragland, thought to be a potential target of the Giants, is falling down draft boards after being red-flagged for an enlarged heart, a league source confirmed.

Doctors don’t think the problem will affect Ragland’s career, though an enlarged heart has been linked to the death of former NFL players Gaines Adams and Chester McGlockton while prompting the early retirement of ex-Colts linebacker Marcus Freeman after just one season in 2010.

Ragland’s condition, first reported by the NFL Network, appears unlikely to cause him to fall out of the first round Thursday night. A two-year starter for the Crimson Tide, Ragland is considered the best pure inside linebacker available this year.
