The Jets will be without defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers for Sunday’s game with the Broncos, a source confirmed.

Rodgers is dealing with an illness that coach Todd Bowles described as “a serious thing” on Friday. Rodgers missed time on Thursday and Friday. It is not clear when Rodgers will be able to return to the team.

Bowles is expected to call the defense in Rodgers’ absence.

Rodgers, 49, has served as the Jets’ defensive coordinator since 2015, joining the team with Bowles. He and Bowles are very close. They coached together with the Cowboys and Dolphins before reuniting with the Jets.
