Mike Williams is ready to go.
The Jets wide receiver returned to team drills this week and coach Robert Saleh said Thursday that Williams will play in the team’s opener against the 49ers on Sept. 9.
“It feels good. It’s what I expected,” Williams said of being ready. “I was putting the work in this whole time to make myself available to perform this season. It’s all paying off at the right time.”
Williams tore his left ACL last September when he was playing for the Chargers and missed the rest of the 2023 season.

Williams spent the offseason rehabbing his knee, then returned to practice on a limited basis a few weeks ago.
Saleh said while Williams will play against the 49ers, no one should expect him to be 100 percent immediately.
“That wouldn’t be fair,” Saleh said. “He’s going to be available Week 1, but to expect him to be 100 percent … we’re going to be very smart with how we use him. But he’s going to be plenty available to make his mark.”
Saleh said Williams had a strong practice Thursday with four or five catches as the Jets conducted an intrasquad scrimmage.

GM Joe Douglas heaped the praise on Aaron Rodgers.
“He’s amazing,” Douglas said. “I mean obviously a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and there’s days where he goes out there and just doesn’t miss, just the command he has of the offense, the ability to get the offense into the right play against the right defense, the accuracy, the delivery, the leadership.”
