BELLEVUE, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman has been arrested and is under investigation of vehicular assault and felony hit-and-run.

According to jail records, Coleman was booked into King County Jail in Seattle early Thursday and bail was denied. He was arrested by Bellevue police, but details were not immediately available. The Seattle Times reported the other driver suffered a broken collarbone.

“It seems Derrick may have fallen asleep while driving home from a Seahawks facility,” Coleman’s agent said, according to Seattle radio station KOMO, of the incident which occurred in the late afternoon Wednesday.

Coleman has been suspended indefinitely by the Seahawks, the team announced Thursday.

Coleman, who is legally deaf, is in his fourth season with the Seahawks. His inspiring personal story was featured in Duracell batteries commercial last year.

He spent the 2012 season on the practice squad before earning a spot on the 53-man roster in 2013, when the Seahawks went on to win the Super Bowl. Coleman missed 11 games and the playoffs last season because of a broken foot.
