The 2020 NFL season has been full of unexpected storylines, particularly New England’s fall from grace atop the AFC East.

Although the Tom Brady-less Patriots squeaked out a victory against the Jets on Monday night, some viewers — Paige Spiranac, specifically — were taken aback by the joy of beating a winless team.

“It’s weird seeing the Patriots celebrate for beating the Jets,” Spiranac tweeted.

In the final seconds of Monday night’s game, kicker Nick Folk nailed a 51-yard game-winning field goal for the nail-biting 30-27 victory. Following the kick, Patriots players celebrated on the field at MetLife Stadium, a stark contrast from the past “business as usual” approach.

Twitter naturally had a few comments regarding Spiranac’s original message.

“As a Jets fan, sweet sweet relief they lost. Tank for Trevor is alive and well #roadto0and16,” one user replied.

“Feels weird celebrating a win like this. But, after seeing Tom and his new team get beat last night, I needed this,” another responded, referencing the Saints’ Sunday night blowout over Brady’s Buccaneers.

When one fan asked Spiranac, “Is it more weird to see the Patriots at 3-5,” the 27-year-old golfer said, “That and that my Steelers are 8-0. I don’t know what’s going on.”

Spiranac’s Steelers will attempt to go for win No. 9 on Sunday when they face the Cincinnati Bengals.
