As Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was crowned MVP Sunday night after defeating the 49ers in Super Bowl 2020, one former friend of his was not the least bit surprised.
High school classmate Spencer Shaw predicted that Mahomes would win the Vince Lombardi Trophy when they were at Texas’ Whitehouse High School in 2014. Shaw posted a photo to Twitter of his yearbook Sunday, proving that he called the win when they were teenagers.
“When you predicted @PatrickMahomes would win the Super Bowl all the way back when y’all were in high school #SuperBowlLIV #GoChiefs #903,” Shaw wrote on Twitter with a snapshot of his yearbook answer to ‘What are you looking forward to most about your class reunion?’
“Seeing Patrick Mahomes’ super bowl ring,” was Shaw’s response.
Mahomes rallied the Chiefs for three fourth-quarter touchdowns and a 31-20 win over the 49ers.
