Patrick Mahomes is “super excited” about adding a new member to Chiefs’ Kingdom.

Speaking Wednesday on KCSP 610 Sports Radio, Kansas City’s quarterback opened up about impending fatherhood, one day after he and fiancée Brittany Matthews announced that they are expecting.

“I’m just excited for the future ahead of being able to keep building and to keep becoming a better person for my family and this world,” Mahomes said.

Mahomes, the 2020 Super Bowl MVP, is undoubtedly having his most exciting year yet. It started with Super Bowl victory in February, then over the summer the quarterback signed the richest contract in sports history — a 10-year, $503 million extension — that he celebrated with Matthews. In early September, the couple got engaged at Arrowhead Stadium.

When asked Wednesday if he’s itching for a baby boy or girl, Mahomes said he just wants his little one to be “healthy.”

“I’m just super excited, hopefully, I have a healthy baby and someone I’ll be able to love for the rest of my life,” Mahomes said.
