The Rams were 1-4 heading into Sunday and didn’t have a ton to lose. They may as well empty their bag of tricks, and for one punt return, it’s a joy to watch.

Surprisingly up 14-3 in the second quarter over the Seahawks, the Rams set to return a Seattle punt and slanted their blocking schemes to the left side of the field. Only, Jon Ryan booted the ball to the opposite side — a fact seemingly only he and St. Louis’ special teams unit knew.

As both squads streamed down the right side of the field, Stedman Bailey veered to the left, where only a Seattle gunner and Ryan pursued. A Rams faux returner pantomimed catching the ball as Bailey fielded it across field and sprinted untouched 88 yards into the end zone.

Here’s an alternate angle that demonstrates just how hoodwinked the Seahawks and television cameras were.
