Give pulled-over running back Bernard Pierce this much: He knew the NFL ax was coming.

Pierce was released by the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday, just hours after he was stopped for speeding and charged with driving under the influence.

On his way to the precinct, Pierce called it, telling the arresting officers, according to a police report obtained by TMZ: “Do you know what happened the last time a Ravens player got a DUI? I’m getting cut tomorrow, not like you care.”

Pierce was referring to defensive tackle Victor Hampton, though it’s but one example of the Ravens’ tough stance after they were burned for their handling of Ray Rice’s domestic violence arrest and subsequent video shockers. Defensive tackle Terrence Cody was released in February as soon as an investigation began that led to his indictment on animal cruelty charges.

Pierce was doing 55 in a 30 mph zone around 2 a.m., according to Baltimore County police, and failed a series of field sobriety tests: He twice reported his weight as “530,” before correcting to “230,” via TMZ. He reportedly admitted his St. Patrick’s Day boozing included “3 shots of Jack.”

The 24-year-old rushed for a career-low 366 yards on 93 carries (3.9 average) in 2014, his third pro season.
