The Jets gave Darrelle Revis a little tribute in his contract. According to a source, the annual average value of the five-year, $70 million deal is actually $14,024,212. The Jets put that creative touch in with the “24” for his jersey number and “212” for one of New York City’s area codes.
The move was thought of by Jackie Davidson, the team’s manager of football administration. Davidson has a strong relationship with Revis’ agents and was the lead negotiator on the deal. To get the average value to that number, they added some money to his base salaries in 2017 and 2018.
