Count Carson Palmer among those who support Ryan Fitzpatrick getting paid by the Jets.

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback, who was backed up by Fitzpatrick on the Bengals in 2007 and 2008, endorsed the unsigned signal-caller at the American Century Championship charity golf event in Lake Tahoe this week.

“He’s been a great player for them, and I hope they take care of him the way they should,” Palmer said. “He means so much to that team.”

Fitzpatrick is mired in a contract stalemate with the team he led to a 10-6 record in 2015, narrowly missing out on the playoffs. On Wednesday at the event, he declined to comment on the status of his negotiations, saying “not right now” before walking to the first tee box.

His New Jersey home also is up for rent in what may be an ominous sign for Jets fans hopeful of Fitzpatrick getting a deal done.

“I don’t know the exact numbers, but I know Ryan very well,” Palmer said. “A good friend of mine, he’s an ex-teammate of mine. I know what he means in the locker room. I know what he means on the field.”

In his first year with the Jets, Fitzpatrick completed 59.6 percent of his passes for 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns. He threw 15 interceptions, none more damaging than the three in the Jets’ season finale against Buffalo that ultimately prevented them from continuing their season.

Still, promise in Year 1 brings hope in Year 2 if a deal can get done, and Fitzpatrick has one of the league’s best veteran quarterbacks in his corner.

“He means so much to that team,” Palmer said. “That team wants him there and they have a really good shot with him at quarterback.”
