Michael Irvin was laughing, Steve Smith wasn’t.
Irvin apparently had made fun of Smith’s black-and-gray plaid plants in a previous NFL Network segment and tried a mock apology to lessen the tension. It didn’t seem to work.
“I have to apologize to Steve. My wife loves you and is mad at me for messing with you. She’s going to make me sleep on the couch if I say anything more about those pants you have on,” Irvin said before cracking up. “So, I am not going to say anything.”
He had already said too much.
“When I come to LA, I am going to whoop your ass,” the fiery former Panthers receiver responded. “I am just going to whoop your ass when I see you. I ain’t got no time for this.”
Luckily for Irvin, Smith was live in Baltimore for the Ravens’ 40-0 rout of the Dolphins while the Cowboys’ Hall of Fame wide receiver was in NFL Network’s Los Angeles studio.
