When it comes to his retirement date, it looks like Tom Brady might be leaning toward the “later” part of “sooner rather than later.”
The Patriots quarterback, who turns 41 on Aug. 3, told Oprah Winfrey in a segment scheduled to air Sunday on OWN, “I think about it (retirement) more now than I used to” — adding, “I think I’m seeing that there’s definitely an end coming sooner rather than later.”
But evidence you might want to bet the over came soon after those comments went public.
After ESPN posted Brady’s quote on its Instagram page, thousands commented — and one of them was Brady himself, who said, “Cuarenta y cinco,” which is Spanish for “45.”
He followed that with three monkey emojis for see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
If the 18-year NFL veteran does make it through his 45th year, it would mean five more seasons to add to his eight Super Bowl appearances and five Super Bowl titles.

“I always said my mid-40s, and naturally that means around 45,” Brady told ESPN last May.
Brady has indicated that two factors will ultimately decide how long he lasts — staying healthy enough to contribute at a high level and his family life, with the latter providing more of a tug in recent years.
Brady has two children with his supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen, and another with actress Bridget Moynahan.
As Brady told Winfrey, “I think what I’ve alluded to a lot … was there’s other things happening in my life, too. I do have [three] kids that I love, and I don’t want to be a dad that’s not there driving my kids to their games.”
