Leave it to Tom Brady to dictate the final outcome.
The soon-to-be-former Patriots great gave his two suitors, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Chargers, his terms and both teams acquiesced, according to Pro Football Talk.
The three-time NFL MVP was reportedly seeking salary “in the $30 million range” for each of two years, but came short of requesting any excesses such as personnel or offensive control which reportedly had been included in his previous lists of demands, according to the report. Brady may have given other teams the same proposal, but the finalists came down to the Chargers and Buccaneers.
After enduring his final season with the Patriots without many offensive weapons — following the suspension of Antonio Brown, New England’s top remaining receivers besides Julian Edelman were Phillip Dorsett and Mohamed Sanu — Brady will have a stacked receiving corps featuring Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, who each gained more than 1,100 yards with eight or more touchdowns.
Brady has won six Super Bowls, while making 14 Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams and is second all-time in passing touchdowns and passing yards, but his salary exceeded $20 million just once in his career ($23 million in 2019).
