Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner commiserates with Ryan Fitzpatrick having to cede his starting job with the Miami Dolphins to prized rookie Tua Tagavailoa.
The 3-3 Dolphins will sit the veteran Fitzpatrick and start Tagovailoa – the No. 5 pick in the draft out of Alabama – when they return from their bye week on Nov. 1 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Warner similarly had the Giants at 5-4 in 2004 when he was replaced by Eli Manning, the No.1 overall pick in that year’s draft.
“I know what my man #FitzMagic is feeling,” Warner tweeted Tuesday. “In 04 w/NYG we were (a) playoff team after 9 games (& I wasn’t playing as well as Fitz) when they moved (to) @EliManning — sucked (for) me – but I knew it wasn’t about that season but the future. I’d have to say it worked out pretty well (for the) Gmen!”

Miami has opened this season 3-3, in second place in the AFC East behind the Buffalo Bills (4-2). The 37-year-old Fitzpatrick has led the Dolphins to three wins in their past four games, completing a career-best 70.1 percent of his pass attempts with a 95.0 quarterback rating through six games.
The 22-year-old Tagavailoa made his NFL debut late in Sunday’s shutout win over the Jets, going 2-for-2 for nine yards in his first game action since suffering a season-ending hip injury with Alabama last November.
