The player selected with the final pick of every NFL Draft gets dubbed Mr. Irrelevant, and this year that player is a Giant.
Tae Crowder, a linebacker from Georgia, was taken by the Giants with pick No. 255 Saturday to cap off NFL Draft 2020.
What do we know about Mr. Irrelevant 2020? Well, the 23-year-old was actually recruited out of Harris County HS (Ga.) to University of Georgia as a running back in 2015 but switched to linebacker the following year.
The 6-foot-3. 235-pound Crowder had 115 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, five passes defensed and 1.5 sacks over his last two seasons. He started all 14 games in his senior year and was a semifinalist for the 2019 Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top linebacker. He was college teammates with Andrew Thomas, whom the Giants selected No. 4 overall.

Having the distinction of Mr. Irrelevant isn’t always a bad thing. Kicker Ryan Succop became one of the better kickers in the NFL after going last in the 2009 NFL Draft, and linebacker Marty Moore won a Super Bowl ring with the Patriots in 2002 after going last in 1994.
