The Eagles confirmed on Sunday they have interviewed Doug Pederson for their vacant head coaching position. Pederson, a former Eagles quarterback, is the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator.

Sometime Monday afternoon, the Eagles will confirm another interview — one that could reverberate through the NFL and, at the very least, send shock waves shooting 96 miles up the New Jersey Turnpike.

Tom Coughlin will sit down with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie — and wouldn’t it be something if Coughlin trades blue for green and goes from the Giants to their most geographically close, despised NFC East rival?

There are no guarantees anything will come of this, and Lurie might be wanting to tweak the Giants a bit here, and also hear what a respected NFL mind such as Coughlin has to say about his organization. Lurie fired Chip Kelly after three years and wants a new coach who can make an emotional attachment with the players — a skill Kelly never mastered in Philadelphia.

Coughlin, 69, resigned last Monday following a second straight 6-10 season, but a day later said “not necessarily’’ when asked if he was done with coaching. Given his age, he cannot be viewed as a long-term answer, but he has the energy of a much younger man and could be willing to take on one final football challenge.

“If Tom Coughlin were to coach again, you’d want to go to a situation where you feel you can win, sooner rather than later,’’ said a source familiar with Coughlin’s thinking.
